"I love how summer just wraps its arms around you like a warm hug"- Kellie Elmore

Summer's finally here at Forest Grove Childcare Centre and June's been a good reminder just how hot summer can be! While keeping this in mind, the best way to get your child ready for summer at the centre is to ensure that your child has a water bottle that can be left at the centre, a hat, sunscreen, a change of clothes or bathing suit for water days, and appropriate footwear for walking and playing at the park.

Infant Toddler

The children in the infant toddler room will be having a busy summer ahead of them doing some wonderful summer themed art and activities. The children will enjoy the sunny days playing at the surrounding parks as well as joining in the fun at Water-days! To cool off  from the hot summer sun.

Daycare Montessori

Congratulations to the Montessori  class of 2015!
Thank you to all the parents who contributed and attended the graduation ,the students worked very hard in preparation and it was wonderful for you all to be there.

In the Montessori this summer the children will be busy with different activities each day
Monday: Triple Park or Hiking Picnic Day!
Depending on the weather we will be heading into the cool shade of the surrounding trails to explore the neighbourhood or visiting all three of the parks accessible by the trail off the parking lot. It is important on these days that children bring non-warm up lunches and have appropriate foot wear for any type of adventures.
Tuesday: Water-Day!
Water-Days area favourite for staff and children alike! On water-days the sprinkler will be going on the grass by the Montessori along with Legos, cars, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Please have a change of clothes or bathing suit that can stay at the centre.
Wednesday: Cooking and Creations!
Oh these days the children will be making a variety of their own snacks for snack time. The rest of the summer morning snack will not be provided so please add any extras your child may need for morning snack. The cooking and creations will range from monkey sandwiches to s'mores.
Thursday:Maple Grove Park Picnic!
Again please no warm-up lunches as we will be toting our lunches to the Maple Grove park for a fun day at the park and cooling off with the mister umbrella there.
Friday:Water-Day!
Same as Tuesday but one a week is never enough!
Beyond our busy summer plans the children will also be making some fantastic 'slippery fish' felt puppets and other summer themed art that parents can check out on the walls of the classroom

REMINDERS TO ALL OUR PARENTS:

1.     Please ensure your child has indoor shoes which they change into when they arrive at the Centre and which stay at the Centre when leaving.

2.     Please have a change of clothes at the Centre , in case they are needed.

3.     Please label all you food containers and let us know if any food needs to be heated (note also: as you are aware, ours is  a ‘NUT-FREE’ Centre.)

4.     Please arrive on time especially if your child is attending the Montessori – this helps keep disruption to the minimum.

5.     Please inform us immediately if there are any changes eg address, telephone, contacts.

6.     Please ensure you look at your child’s cubby when you are leaving and take home their work etc.

7.      Please inform us as early as possible (by 9am – would be great) if your child is not attending the Centre that day.

8.     May we also suggest that you drop-off your child and leave soon thereafter. This makes the transition much easier and conducive to good start to the day, both for the staff and the children.
