Welcome to ELLIE, EVIE, SAOIRSE and families who have joined us this month – please feel free to ask any questions you may have; we are sure you will enjoy your time at the Centre.
Notable Dates :
Monday, 8th February 2016 : BC FAMILY DAY : The Centre will be closed on that day ,re-opening on Tuesday 9 Feb 2016.
CHINESE NEW YEAR (YEAR OF THE MONKEY) : Monday , 8th February 2016.
VALENTINE’S DAY : Saturday , 14 February 2016
Please remember if you have not brought it in yet , Comfort Kits are due in as soon as possible.
Infant Toddler
During January in the Infant Toddler rooms the children expanded on the Winter (and the weather ,generally) theme and made some wonderful art that was displayed on their board. Also, the children learnt about Antartic animals and their habitats.
During this upcoming month the theme will be Friendship and Family, the children will make some Valentines art and have play activities that concentrate on traits of good friends like sharing and turn taking.
Children will also learn about Chinese new year through books and pictures - children are going to make a card, and also paint & decorate the board in the room.
Daycare Montessori
During January , the children in the Montessori also covered the seasons and related topics and the display board in the room reflected that.
As well, during January we continued with the Fun Family Phonics program covering the letters up to I,J K, L In February we will cover the following letters and suggestions for show and tell for this month are:
M-mermaid, monkey and mouse
N-ninja turtle, newspaper, necklace, and numbers
O- ogre (Shrek), orange, and orangutan
P - princess, pumpkin, and pig
February theme will be about Family and Friendship we will be making some wonderful art that will be displayed on the board and we will be making some colourful Valentine’s craft in the days to come. Children are welcome to bring photos of family and friends to share with others and celebrate Family Day.
Also during February we will be making some Chinese New Year Art , watch out for some craft coming home. In addition the children will also be learning ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ in Mandarin language.

REMINDERS TO ALL OUR PARENTS:
1. Please ensure your child has indoor shoes which they change into when they arrive at the Centre and which stay at the Centre when leaving.
2. Please have a change of clothes at the Centre , in case they are needed.
3. Please label all you food containers and let us know if any food needs to be heated (note also: as you are aware, ours is a ‘NUT-FREE’ Centre.)
4. Please arrive on time especially if your child is attending the Montessori – this helps keep disruption to the minimum.
5. Please inform us immediately if there are any changes eg address, telephone, contacts.
6. Please ensure you look at your child’s cubby when you are leaving and take home their work etc.
7. Please inform us as early as possible (by 9am – would be great) if your child is not attending the Centre that day.
8. May we also suggest that you drop-off your child and leave soon thereafter. This makes the transition much easier and conducive to good start to the day, both for the staff and the children.
