 CANADA DAY - WEDNESDAY 1st July 2020

(*reopens THURSDAY 2nd July 2020)

Please let GULZAR know of your plans during the coming months so that we may plan accordingly.

This time of the year remember to apply sunscreen to your child BEFORE coming to the Centre , bring a hat and appropriate footwear for walking to and playing at the surrounding parks. We will be taking optimum advantage of the good weather we get and if all goes well we will endeavour to have a WATER DAY  whenever possible so please leave some appropriate extra clothing at Centre for your child.

COVID 19: Public Health Guidance for Childcare Settings

If you’re ill – stay at home.

Within childcare settings, children and staff will often have influenza or other respiratory viruses with symptoms similar to COVID-19 (i.e., influenza). For this reason, all children and staff who are ill with fever, have cold, influenza or infectious respiratory symptoms of any kind need to stay home. If children and staff have symptoms, self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms and until symptoms have completely resolved.  Please bring a DOCTOR’S NOTE  when the child comes back to the Centre.

If you are at all unsure of your status, the BC Centre for Disease Control’s online assessment tool can help you assess whether you should stay home or not.

Please encourage your child to practice the following:

Six steps to proper handwashing

1. Wet hands with warm running water.

2. Apply a small amount of liquid soap. Antibacterial soap is not required.

3. Rub hands together for at least 20 seconds (sing the ABC’s). Rub palms, backs of hands, between fingers and under nails and creating a lather.

 4. Rinse off all soap with running water.

5. Dry hands with a clean, disposable towel.

6. Discard the used towel in the waste container.

Children should wash their hands

• When they arrive at the centre and before they go home

• Before eating and drinking

• After a diaper change, using the toilet

• After playing outside or handling pets

• After sneezing or coughing into hands

• Whenever hands are visibly dirty.

Infant Toddler AND  Daycare Montessorri

In May we celebrated Mothers’s day. Hope you appreciated the card and gifts made by children which came home.

In June we will celebrate Father’s day – again watch out for the cards and gifts coming home and the poster boards and windows in the classrooms.

In June the theme will be EASY SPRING SCIENCE – we will endeavour to cover SEED SCIENCE activities eg planting seed and growing flowers – this will allow children to explore, investigate and experience the growth of plants - through songs and books and also by exploring nature first hand by going for nature walks and experiencing the woods around our Centre.

We will also continue the theme of Friendship learning about kindness and caring for each other.

We will continue to talk about  Stay Safe and Healthy :

·      We will be encouraging children to stay safe and healthy doing various indoor and outdoor activities during the day.

·      We will also continue to work on the six steps of hand washing as suggested by the Ministry.

  • Please encourage children to bring healthy and nutritious lunch and snacks at the Centre. We will also have an outdoor picnic lunch whenever possible.
  • We will also encourage children to drink water throughout the day.
  • Feel free to talk to Gulzar if you have any questions.
